Who we are

Brooklyn Hill Press is  committed to telling stories that provoke thought and engage imagination. Grounded in New Zealand, our stories explore the world through local eyes.


Hels Ryan

Hels Ryan is a writer, strategic communications and engagement specialist and former radio and print journalist. History and a passion for social justice are at the heart of her creativity. Her historic war time features depicting some of New Zealand’s war heroes are stored in the New Zealand Archives. She has also been published in the anthology, Notable South Canterbury Women, and in Penguin Books, Great Snow Storm. In 2017, she was shortlisted for the Bonsai Short Fiction Anthology. The Boy with a Suitcase is her first published novel.


Angelique Praat

Angelique Praat is a writer and social researcher. In her professional life, she has explored issues ranging from incarceration to architecture. Curiousity and a love of words drives her creatively. Her fiction has appeared in Flash Frontier. The Empathy Code is her first novel.
